L'histoire orale raconte qu'une grosse com\u00e8te de glace a atterri dans le Colorado. Apr\u00e8s des millions d'ann\u00e9es, la com\u00e8te a fondu et l'eau s'est engouffr\u00e9e dans les rochers pour former le Grand Canyon. L'histoire orale Hualapai poursuit en disant qu'un aigle g\u00e9ant a vol\u00e9 dans le ciel avant le d\u00e9but de l'inondation et qu'il est descendu en piqu\u00e9 pour sauver le peuple Hualapai. Ce grand aigle a transport\u00e9 les Hualapai sur son dos, d\u00e9posant les membres de la tribu sur le rebord de la rive ouest lorsque l'inondation s'est arr\u00eat\u00e9e. During the Long Walk to La Paz, elderly Hualapai overheard the Calvary saying they would gun the tribesmen down. The elderly told the younger generation to run back home. They ran down an old sacred trail at Quartermaster Canyon all the way to the bottom of the Canyon and evaded the military. Today, direct descendants of these brave Hualapai live on and continue to tell their stories.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque vous monterez dans le ciel sur la tyrolienne, vous arriverez au point de vue de Quartermaster, qui offre une vue imprenable sur Quartermaster Canyon. In the 1930s, two men floating down the Colorado River happened to land their boat along the bank near a cave. Upon closer inspection, they discovered guano, or bat feces, a popular ingredient back then for fertilizer, dynamite, and even makeup.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s avoir appris que la grotte contenait plus de 100 000 tonnes de guano, l'U.S. Guano Corporation a achet\u00e9 la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 et a construit un syst\u00e8me de tramway d'une valeur de $3,5 millions d'euros pour l'extraire. A U.S. Air Force fighter jet crashed into the overhead cable system and permanently disabled it, never to be repaired. The remaining structures were left intact as a monument to man\u2019s attempt to mine the Canyon. Many Hualapai weren\u2019t able to escape the \u201cLong Walk to La Paz.\u201d These tribespeople jumped off the edge to their deaths rather than be captured by the military. Hualapai call these the lost souls. When you visit the area, be sure to remember these Indigenous people\u2019s ancestors and pay homage to their spirits.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Guano Point offers one of the most dramatic viewpoints of the Grand Canyon with \u201cHighpoint Hike\u201d and its stunning 360-degree views of the Canyon. Visitors can climb to the top of the rocks for breathtaking views, which are the most spectacular at sunset.
