Itinerary for the Two-Day River Rafting Experience in the Grand Canyon

It’s vital to arrive early because the day’s activities will begin at 6 a.m. You can stay at the Hualapai Lodge, address: 900 Highway 66, Peach Springs, AZ 86434. This is our starting point for all of the Hualapai River Runners’ whitewater rafting adventures, making it convenient for you.

The first activity of day one will be filling out paperwork, after which, we will provide you with a  three-foot-tall bag to put all your personal items. We will leave the lodge for Diamond Creek, where you will receive personal flotation devices (PFDs), paddles, and helmets. A paddle guide will take your dry bag to put it on the supply boat.

We will depart from the Diamond Creek beach area and paddle through rapids and flat water in the first few miles to get to our first stop. We will then arrive at Travertine Falls, where you will have the opportunity to go for a short hike up to a cave with the aid of ropes and ladders. In addition to enjoying the unique geological formations, you can stand under the waterfall for a refreshing moment.

From Travertine Falls, we will continue through the rapids, followed by a smooth float down to the beach for lunch. After lunch, we will head down the river to Spencer Canyon. You will set up camp at the campsite to enjoy the scenery of the Grand Canyon. A steak dinner will be provided by a campfire. Feel free to socialize and relax under the stars.

Day two will start with a riverside breakfast, and then you will prepare for the day. Unlike the first day that involved navigating larger rapids, the second day will be more relaxed.

We will depart the campsite in a motorized raft heading for the calmer sections of the river. This smooth water portion of the trip allows you to take in the scenic views while we head to the beach for lunch. After lunch, we will smoothly continue down the river to Peach Ferry.

At Peach Ferry, we will provide a bus or van to drive you back to Hualapai Lodge. Don’t forget your dry bag and personal belongings.

Arrival at the Hualapai Lodge will mark the end of the two-day river rafting adventure in Grand Canyon.

When Is the Best Month for a Rafting Trip?

You can participate in the two-day river rafting trip in Grand Canyon whenever you want. However, it’s crucial to understand the different temperatures of the year to determine which period works best for you.

March, April, September, and October are colder months, whereas May, June, July, and August are warmer. Rainy weather is mostly experienced from June to September, which at times, can lead to the cancellation of activities due to bad road conditions.

Spring (April to June) offers powerful rapids due to melting snowpack, which causes the river to rise, resulting in larger rapids. When snowmelt subsides and temperature cools in the summer (July to September), the river becomes less intense. You will still enjoy rapids but not as intensely as in the Spring months.

Spring months are for thrill-seekers, those who want to experience the river’s waves in a challenging and exciting way. Summer months are incredible for adventurous people who are looking to maneuver rapids, while relaxing in the water. Early summer months have more rapids than late summer toward fall.

You should pack based on the month you choose for your trip. You should also consider the temperatures you will be dealing with during the day and at night. You can reach out to us, and an experienced guide will provide you with the details you need to make informed decisions.

Regardless of the month you decide to take your rafting trip, Hualapai River Runners will ensure you have the best adventure.
